Once a return has been marked complete, it cannot be marked not complete. Marking the return as complete does two things:
- It adds the return to the transmission table.
- It locks the fees inside of the return.
When to not mark a return complete
After the end of a tax return, when you exit the Receipt Menu you are asked Are You Ready to Mark the Return as Completed? If the return is complete, select YES. If you have additional information to enter on the tax return at a later date, we recommend selecting NO.
How to stop a return from transmitting
If you mark the return complete in error, you can manually remove it from the Transmission Table by selecting Remove Client. And, to stop it from being e-filed you can remove it from electronic filing, however if you do remove it from e-file you need to be alert not to overlook it.
Can I still edit the return?
If you have additional information to add to the return, you still have the ability to edit the return.
If you need to change the fees, from within the return exit to the Receipt Menu, select View / Edit Invoice, then Lock Fees on Invoice and change to NO.
