TaxSlayer ProWeb allows you to set the third-party designee in a tax return to default to the preparer, to another individual, or leave the field blank.
The third party designee information prints in the Third Party Designee section at the bottom of Form 1040.
Within a tax return, the third party designee information in the return is set in the first step of the e-file process. Once that step has been saved, the information won't change in the return even if you subsequently change it in Office Setup. Thus, if it's incorrect in a return that hasn't yet been filed, you need to change it in the return.
To remove or change the default third party designee that will pre-fill in a tax return, from the Welcome page of TaxSlayer ProWeb select:
- Configuration
- Office Setup
- Office Designee
- Designee Prefill Setting
Select the dropdown menu and make a choice:
- Default to Preparer
- Enter Specific Person - Enter their name, 5-digit PIN, and phone in the spaces provided.
- Leave Blank
To remove or change the third party designee in a particular tax return:
- Go to E-file.
- At the bottom of the Return Details step select Optional Questions.
- Change the third party designee information as desired.
