Form 2290 is not included in TaxSlayer Pro. It is a use tax return, unrelated to and filed separately from the business's income tax return.
See the link below for a list of IRS-approved Form 2290 MeF providers.
IRS Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return is used to calculate the use tax for heavy highway vehicles such as tractor-trailer rigs, buses, logging trucks, etc. The tax is based on vehicle weight, and the annual reporting period is from July 1 through June 30.
Form 2290 is filed for the month the taxable vehicle is first used on public highways during the current reporting period, and the form and payment are due by the last day of the month following the month of first use. If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, they must be filed by the next business day.
Form 2290 includes two copies of Schedule 1 listing the business's vehicles. Both copies accompany the return, and the IRS will stamp one copy and return it to the taxpayer as proof of payment for the taxpayer's state Department of Transportation (DOT).
The IRS notes that if the return is e-filed, the stamped copy of Schedule 1 can be available "within minutes". A business reporting and paying tax on 24 or fewer vehicles can file Form 2290 in paper form or electronically, however a business reporting and paying tax on 25 or more vehicles must electronically file the return.
