NOTE: E-FILING ONLY THE STATE AMENDED RETURN ISN'T SUPPORTED IN PROWEB, SO THIS ARTICLE IS ON HOLD UNTIL IT IS SUPPORTED. Additionally, the grid presentation below can be improved.
TaxSlayer ProWeb supports electronic filing of amended returns for the following states:
| AR | DC | LA | MS | NH | OK | TN2 | WV |
| AZ | GA | MA | MT | NJ1 | OR | UT | |
| CA | IA | MD | NC | NM | PA | VA | |
| CO | ID | ME | ND | NY | RI | VT | |
| CT | KY | MI | NE | OH | SC | WI |
| 1 - | NJ resident return only. (To amend NJ-1040NR, per the return instructions: correct it, print it, write "Amended" at the top, and mail it.) |
| 2 - | TN INC 250 only. |
If you have prepared both federal and state amended returns, you must transmit them separately as follows:
- Transmit the federal amended return.
- Wait for the federal acknowledgement.
- After the federal acknowledgement is received, the state return can be transmitted.
- If the federal amended return accepts, transmit the state amended return.
- If the federal amended return rejects, examine it to determine whether or not the reject can be resolved and the return e-filed again. The state amended return may or may not also need to change, but in any case if the federal reject can't be resolved you can still e-file the state amended return since the federal amended return has been acknowledged.
Note: If you transmit the state amended return before the federal amended return has been acknowledged (whether accepted or rejected), the state amended return will go nowhere; it will neither accept nor reject. This is a limitation of the IRS Modernized e-File System (MeF).
