California Form 593, Real Estate Withholding Statement is used to report real estate withholding on sales, installment payments, and like-kind exchanges. The information on Form 593 is entered in the taxpayer's individual tax return.
To enter Form 593 in the individual tax return in TaxSlayer ProWeb, from the California Return menu (Form 540 or 540NR) select:
- Payments
- CA Real Estate Withholding (from Form 593)
Complete each section as needed.
- Remitter Information - Enter the information showing in Part I.
- Seller/Transferor Information - Enter the information showing in Part II.
- Certifications which fully exempt the sale from withholding - Select Yes for any checked item in Part III.
- Certifications that may partially or fully exempt the sale from withholding - Select Yes for any checked item in Part IV.
- Escrow or Exchange Information
- Street Address, ZIP Code, City, State of Transferred Property - Enter the property information showing in Part II.
- Enter the Escrow or Exchange Number - Enter the number shown in Part VII line 31.
- Date of Transfer - Enter the date shown in Part VII line 32.
- Select the Type of Transaction Subject to Withholding - Select BEGIN, then select Yes for the type of transaction corresponding to the box checked in Part VII line 35.
- Select the Withholding Calculation Method - Select BEGIN, then select Yes for the filing type corresponding to the box checked in Part VI line 29.
- Enter the Amount that should have been withheld from this seller - Enter the amount shown in Part VII line 34, if any.
- Enter the Amount withheld from this seller - Enter the amount shown in Part VII line 37.
- Preparer Information - Enter the remitter's name, title, escrow business name, and telephone number as shown on the bottom of the last page of Form 593 in the signature block.
- Buyer/Transferee Information - Enter the amount shown in Part V.
- Computation of Estimated gain or loss on sale - Enter the amount shown in Part VI.
