Utah provides a nonrefundable Military Retirement Credit for retirement pay related to service in the armed forces, including military retirement pay received by a survivor of a deceased service member. This credit cannot be claimed if the taxpayer or spouse claim the Retirement Credit.
To claim the Military Retirement Credit on the Utah individual income tax return in TaxSlayer ProWeb, from the Utah Return menu select:
- Credits
- SSA, Retirement, & Military Retirement Tax Credit
- Is the Taxpayer (or Spouse) claiming the Military Retirement Credit? - Select Yes for applicable person.
- Amount of taxable military retirement pay or survivor benefits - Enter the qualified military retirement income as a positive number.
