When attempting to mark an Arizona Individual Return for electronic filing, you will receive the following error if the taxpayer received Title 16 SSI income and is claiming the property tax credit, but you have not attached a PDF copy of the statement from the Social Security Administration authorizing the SSI payments:
140PTC - Please attach a statement from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
The SSI statement must show all of the following information:
- The taxpayer's name, address, and SSN.
- Indication that the payments they received or are due to receive are Title 16 SSI payments
- The period for which they received or are due to receive Title 16 SSI payments, and
- The date the SSA issued the statement.
To correct this e-file block, from the Arizona Tax Return Menu select:
- Payments and Refundable Credits
- Property Tax Credit
- Heading Information
- Did you Receive Title SSI Payments - Select YES.
- Do you want to Attach a statement from the Social Security Administration - Select YES. In the Windows File Explorer windows that opens navigate to the location of the PDF, select it, then click Open.
Only attach a PDF. If you're scanning this statement, be sure to save it as a PDF rather than as an image of some type.
