Individuals who receive a federal extension receive an automatic six-month extension if federal Form 4868 is attached to the return when filed. Use Form 740EXT, Application for Extension of Time to File, unless an amount is due with the extension.
To complete Kentucky Form 740EXT in TaxSlayer ProWeb, from the Kentucky Return menu select:
- Miscellaneous Forms
- Ky Form 740EXT, Application for Extension of Time to File KY Income Tax Return
- To complete Form 740EXT select Yes and Begin
- Enter Amount Paid with Request - Provide a reason for the extension request.
Note: Electronic filing is not supported for the state extension or state extension payment. The federal extension and extension payment may be sent electronically, however the state forms will have to be mailed.
