Taxpayers making a tentative tax payment and/or wanting more time to file a Nebraska income tax return must file a Nebraska Application for Automatic Extension, Form 4868N. This form is not necessary if a federal extension has been filed and the taxpayer is not making payment or is being e-filed by a paid tax preparer. All approved extension requests will receive a six-month extension beyond the original due date.
To access the Nebraska Form 4868N, from the Nebraska Return menu select:
- Miscellaneous Forms
- Application for Automatic Extension of Time, Form 4868N - Select YES and enter the amount to print on the extension.
Note: The Nebraska Form 4868N cannot be e-filed. It will have to be mailed.
