ProWeb: How Do I file an Application for Extension of Time to File for Massachusetts?

Massachusetts allows an automatic 6-month extension, without filing an application if 80% of total tax liability is paid by the return due date

To access the Massachusetts Form MA-4868, from the main menu of the Massachusetts state return select:  

  • Miscellaneous Forms 
  • Form M-4868 - Application for Automatic Six-Month Extension

Note: Electronic filing is not supported for the state extension in ProWeb. The federal extension and extension may be sent electronically, however the state will have to be mailed.
