If a taxpayer contributes to a West Virginia college savings plan a portion of the contribution can be subtracted from income on the West Virginia return.
Contributions up to $18,000 per taxpayer per year ($36,000 for those married, filing jointly) are eligible for a West Virginia state income tax deduction.
To enter the deductible portion of the contributions in ProWeb, from West Virginia Return menu select:
- Subtractions from Income
- Contributions to the West Virginia Prepaid Tuition Trust Fund - Enter amounts of contribution
- Prepaid Tuition Annual Statement - Select and attach the statement PDF.
