In order to utilize a bank product to facilitate a refund disbursement in an individual tax return, you must have selected a bank to use in the Bank Setup Menu in Configuration.
To select the bank in an individual tax return, from the main menu of the return select:
- Mark Return Electronic
- If the return was not previously marked for electronic filing, you will be asked, Does the taxpayer want the preparation fees taken out of their refund? - Select YES.
Depending on the bank and the time of year, a list of available bank product e-file types will be displayed on the screen.
If at any time, the options in the following image are in the list, DO NOT select a "Not a Bank Product" option:
Choosing the "Not a Bank Product" option is chosen if you want the taxpayer's refund to be paid to them directly from the IRS, and if chosen your preparer fees will not be deducted from the taxpayer's refund:
