When preparing an individual tax return in TaxSlayer ProWeb for a taxpayer without an SSN or ITIN, begin the return using all zeros as a temporary SSN. For a return filing MFJ, if the spouse also hasn't got an SSN enter all zeros for the spouse SSN. For each return begun this way, the program will increment the SSN entered by 1.
To enter an Amish or Mennonite dependent, from the Federal Section of the tax return (Form 1040) select:
- Basic Information
- Dependents / Qualifying Person
- Dependents / Qualifying Person
- + Add a dependent or qualifying child
- After entering the dependent's name and date of birth, check the check box next to Check here if the individual does not have an SSN, ITIN, or ATIN.
- Select No for This dependent will be completing a Form W-7, Application for ITIN
- Please select the reason your dependent does not have an SSN - Use the drop down box to select Amish or Mennonite.
