Desktop: How Do I file an Application for Extension of Time to File for New York?

Form IT-370, Application for Automatic Six-Month Extension of Time to File for Individuals, filed by April 15 will extend the due date to October 15.The state of New York will not accept a copy of federal Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, in place of Form IT-370.

 

To access the New York Form IT-370, from the main menu of the New York state return select:  

  • Other New York Forms
  • Extension of Time to File  
  • Enter Extension
