Desktop: How Do I file an Application for Extension of Time to File for New York?

For New York individual tax return filers, Form IT-370, Application for Automatic Six-Month Extension of Time to File for Individuals, filed by April 15 will extend the tax return due date to October 15. The state of New York does not accept a copy of the federal extension filed on Form 4868 in place of Form IT-370.
