Estimated payments are made to the state of Idaho using Form 51, Estimated Payment of Individual Income Tax. The state allows an automatic six-month extension if the taxpayer has paid either
(a) 100% of their income tax reported on their prior year Idaho return, if filed.
(b) 80% of the estimated tax due on their current year return.
The form includes a worksheet for calculating the estimated tax due in the current year. This worksheet is not included in TaxSlayer Pro, but the form can be downloaded from the Idaho State Tax Commission website here.
Form 51 cannot be electronically filed but must be mailed to the address on the form.
To enter the amount of the estimated payment being made with Form 51 in the Idaho individual tax return in TaxSlayer Pro, from the Idaho Tax Return Menu select:
- Penalty, Interest and Estimated Tax
- Idaho Estimated Payment Coupon - Enter the amount of the estimated payment that will be made.
The estimated payment voucher can be printed either by clicking the View button above the Idaho Tax Return Menu or from the View Results menu in the federal return.
