If there are issues getting the Topaz Signature Pad to work within the office, below are some common troubleshooting tips.
Configure the Topaz Signature Pad within Office Setup
Before the Topaz Signature Pad can be used within an office, it is necessary to set up the office to allow the signature pad to be used. Each office that plans to use the Topaz Signature Pad must complete this step to see the feature available in the program.
From the Welcome Page of your TaxSlayer ProWeb office select:
- Configuration
- Office Setup - Check Use Topaz Signature Pad checkbox.
Install the SigWeb drivers
If the user has selected "Use Topaz Signature Pad" within Office Setup and does not have the installed the SigWeb drivers, the program will prompt for installation on the Submission page of the return. On the Submission page of the return, a message "Unable to communicate with SigWeb" and provides a link to download SigWeb directly from Topaz's website.
Note: If the office is using the Topaz Signature Pad, the drivers only need to be installed on the computers that use the signature pad. Computers that do not use the Topaz Signature Pad can sign with a mouse instead.
If you are not using Topaz Signature Pad, but it's already set up
If the PC is set up to use the Topaz Signature Pad and the SigWeb drivers are installed but are not in use, the user will not be able to sign with the mouse on the Submission page. To be able to sign with the mouse pad, do the above steps in reverse: (1) uninstall the SigWeb drivers, then (2) uncheck "Use Topaz Signature Pad" in Office Setup.
