In TaxSlayer ProWeb, updating your EFIN is a three step process:
- Add the new EFIN.
- Update the EFIN on any return created under the old EFIN but not yet transmitted.
- Deactivate the old EFIN.
Before adding the new EFIN, log in to your Account Hub, navigate to Account Information, and locate your Customer ID. You'll need this when adding the new EFIN.
Adding the New EFIN
Follow these steps to add the new EFIN to your ProWeb office starting at the Welcome Page:
- Select Configuration
- Select ERO Setup - Click + ADD ERO
- Enter all the ERO information, including the Customer ID, the EFIN, the phone number, and the address. (Office Identifier is an optional field, useful if you have multiple locations or multiple EFINs and want a quick way to distinguish between them.)
- Mark the new EFIN as both Active and the Default EFIN:
- Default
- Active
- Click Continue when finished.
Updating the EFIN in Returns
To update the EFIN in the tax returns open the return and select:
- E-File
- ERO - Select the new EFIN from the drop down list.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save & Exit.
Deactivating the Old EFIN
After the new EFIN has been added and not-yet-transmitted returns have been updated, follow these steps to deactivate the old EFIN starting at the Welcome Page:
- Select Configuration
- Select ERO Setup
- Select Edit next to the old EFIN
- Uncheck the Active check box:
- Default
- Active
- Click Continue when finished.
Is this a new EFIN?
If this is a new EFIN, you won't be able to transmit with it until we have a copy of the IRS EFIN Application Summary on file.
Send us a copy of the EFIN Application Summary obtained from your IRS e-Services account, along with a copy of your driver's license (for identification purposes). You can send this info to us either by e-mail or fax:
- Email: prodocs@taxslayer.com
- Fax: 706-868-1955
