Many of Ohio's municipalities tax the wages, salaries, and business profits of both residents as well as individuals working within the municipality. TaxSlayer Pro can complete these tax returns using the information already included in the Federal and Ohio returns.
To complete an Ohio municipality return in TaxSlayer Pro, first prepare the Ohio return, then from the Ohio Tax Return Menu select Ohio City Main Menu. The tax return filed will depend on the tax collection agency the municipality uses:
- Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) - About half of Ohio's municipalities that have an income tax use RITA for tax collection services. Click here for instructions on preparing a RITA return in TaxSlayer Pro.
- Central Collection Agency (CCA) - The CCA collects income tax principally on behalf of the City of Cleveland but also for about three dozen other municipalities, in addition to occasional collections for several others.
- Cities that administer their own taxes on their own form:
- City of Akron
- City of Canton
- City of Carlisle
- City of Cincinnati
- City of Columbus
- City of Dayton
- City of Middletown
- City of St. Marys
- Cities that administer their own taxes on the generic form - In the Ohio City Main Menu, select Ohio City Taxes to complete Form R for any city not using RITA, CCA, or their own form.
Note: Ohio Municipalities do not accept electronic returns. Forms can be completed in TaxSlayer Pro but must be mailed.
