At some point during the tax season, you may wish to send a copy of a tax return to TaxSlayer Pro support staff for review. For example, you may have a question about the accuracy of a calculation of a particular line on a form, or you may have a question about how to correctly input information into the software. Additionally, if you are on the phone with support staff, they may ask you to send a copy of a return as a "corrupt return" so they can assist you with it.
In this context, corrupt does not imply the return has been corrupted on your computer. Rather, for the sake of security, certain important bits of data, such as the Social Security Number, the name, and the taxpayer's address are corrupted on our end. Doing this provides a layer of identity protection as well as rendering the return incapable of being filed by us, but our support staff can still load the return into TaxSlayer Pro for diagnostic purposes.
