The Name & Address Menu displays all previously entered information for the taxpayer and spouse. All information on this screen can be altered by simply selecting the line item you wish to change.
Dependent on Another Return - If someone else (such as a parent) is claiming the taxpayer as a dependent on their tax return, indicate this by selecting, Dependent on Another Return and selecting 'YES'.
- The taxpayer cannot claim an exemption for themselves if they can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, even if the other taxpayer does not actually claim them.
- If the taxpayer can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, they cannot claim anyone else as a dependent, even if they have a qualifying child or relative.
- If the taxpayer is filing a joint return, and the spouse can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, they cannot claim any dependents on their joint return
SSN Not Valid for EIC - If the taxpayer's and/or spouse's SSN is not valid for Earned Income Credit (EIC) purposes, select SSN Not Valid for EIC then select Yes.
Blind - If the taxpayer and/or spouse is blind on the last day of the tax year and they are not itemizing deductions, an increased standard deduction applies. To qualify, the taxpayer and/or spouse must be partially or totally blind. If partially blind, a certified statement from an eye doctor or registered optometrist stating that the taxpayer's vision is not better than 20/200 in his/her better eye with glasses or contact lenses, or that the taxpayer's field of vision is 20 degrees or less and that this eye condition is not likely to improve must be retained by the taxpayer.
Deceased - If the taxpayer and/or spouse are deceased, enter their date of death. The date of death will print at the top of Form 1040 along with the word 'Deceased'.
Driver's License - Enter driver's license or other ID information in the menu fields. The information entered in the driver's license menu will carry to the bank product application if applicable as well as to any state returns that are prepared.
In Care Of - This field will automatically populate with the name of the spouse, or the person filing Form 1310 for a deceased taxpayer. If someone other than the spouse is manually entered on this line, their name will print above the taxpayer's address on page 1 of Form 1040.
- Configuration > Advanced Configuration (Macros) > MACRO (Most Common) Setup > Phone Descriptions > Enter the phone descriptions for phone numbers 1, 2, and 3. The descriptions will carry back to the Name & Address Menu.
