The IRS requires that all paid preparer information is included on every return prepared for compensation. The preparer code of the preparer who is logged in when a return is created will be used by default. If you need to change the preparer code on a return, select Preparer Code and then enter the correct preparer number.
If you have entered your Preparer Code in the Personal Information Menu and either the Paid Preparer Information or the Firm Information are missing at the bottom of the Form 1040, or the information is not up to date, do the following steps within the return:
- Select Personal Information
- Select Preparer Code
- Press Enter - This will refresh the information in the return.
When you View or Print the Form 1040, the correct information should then show.
To set up preparers in the Configuration Menu of the tax program, from the Main Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:
- Configuration
- Firm/ERO/Preparer Setup
- Preparer(s) Menu
