TaxSlayer Pro Premium must be activated before the available options will appear in the program. The TaxSlayer Pro Program should automatically activate your Premium Version if your EFIN is entered correctly in the Configuration Setup Menu. From the Main Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:
- Electronic Filing / Bank Setup
- Transmitter’s EFIN (Make sure your EFIN is entered correctly)
If the program does not automatically activate the premium features, you will need your Premium Activation Code that is listed in your Account Hub. To obtain your Premium Activation Code click here.
After the TaxSlayer Pro Premium Bundle has been activated in your program, the premium features can be configured from the Premium Configuration Menu.
Use the PaperCut Paperless Office Option?
This feature allows you to print and store copies of tax returns and all reports in PDF format instead of on paper. To activate this feature, change this menu option to YES.

Ask to Print PDF when Exiting Return
Ask to Print PDF when printing from View Results - For each of these settings, you can choose to be asked to print to PDF with a default answer of either Yes or No, or you can choose to skip the question entirely. If you are used to opening all prints as PDFs, skipping these questions is appropriate.
Email Configuration Menu
There are two e-mail methods. The simplest e-mail method is Indirect through TaxSlayer Pro (Default), however note that your clients will not be able to reply to your email, and you will not receive delivery failure notices. Using the indirect method, e-mail to your clients will come from the sender TaxStatusNow rather than from you.
Alternatively, you can choose SMTP. E-mail sent via this method will come from you. The settings you need can be obtained from your e-mail provider and are typically found online in their e-mail support information. Look for settings related to the "outgoing mail server". Here is the information you need:
- The Server Address (in the program menu, choose your email provider if listed and use its default settings, or select "Other" and enter your e-mail provider's outgoing server address.).
- SMTP Server Port Number.
- Indicate whether a username and password are required. If so, enter your username and password.
- The connection timeout setting, if other than zero.
- Whether or not SSL is required.
After entering the information, select Test Connection Settings to see if you get a successful connection. If the connection is not successful, check all the settings for accuracy. If an e-mail provider has more than one possible SMTP port, you may need to use trial and error to find out which is the right port.
Allow Signature Pad Options
This feature will apply the taxpayer's, spouse's and tax preparer's signature to all allowable forms with the use of a signature pad (purchased separately). Forms supported using the signature pad vary with each state and bank. To activate this feature, change this menu option to YES.
Print Preparer Signature on 1040 - If you have saved a signature in the preparer record, set this to YES to print it on Form 1040.
Print Taxpayer and Spouse Signature From 8879 on 1040 - Set this to YES print the taxpayer and spouse signatures on Form 1040.
Ask for Signature Entry at Receipt Menu - Set this to YES to be asked for taxpayer signatures when you exit the return and arrive at the Receipt Menu.
Add an Option to scan Form W-2 2D Barcodes
This feature allows you to scan W-2s and other documents containing a 2D barcode directly into the program using a Motorola DS6707-SR USB model 2D barcode scanner (purchased separately). To activate this feature, change this menu option to YES.
