TaxSlayer Pro provides the option of adding notes to your tax returns. Return notes are for yourself or your staff about the tax return or the client and are for in-house informational purposes only. Return Notes are not sent to the IRS.
Additionally, Return Notes can be pulled forward from the prior year's return when creating the return for the current year.
Entering or Viewing Return Notes
There are two ways to access the return notes for a return:
- If you have the return open, select the Notes icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen:
2020 and forward:
2019 and prior: - In the Client List at the opening window of TaxSlayer Pro, right-click on the client.
Enter your note in the space provided and optionally indicate if you would like the note to display when the entering and/or exiting the return. When finished, select Save and Exit.
Pulling Prior Year Notes Forward
To set up the way return notes pull forward, from the Quick Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:
- Configuration
- Advanced Configuration (Macros)
- Pull Prior Year Client Notes Forward - Three options are available: Automatically Pull Forward, Ask to Pull Forward, or Do Not Pull Forward.
Note: Being strictly for internal use for the preparer, Return Notes don't print with a tax return and cannot be added to a print option to print with the tax return.
