In TaxSlayer Pro, print errors can occur for a number of reasons, most often by not having the correct printer preferences selected in the program. Use the steps below to identify and select the correct printer. Then, check the additional print preferences listed below to configure your program for optimal print performance.
From the Quick Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:
- Configuration
- Printer / Copies Setup
- Printer Setup
- Edit Printer Preferences - Ensure an X is on the line Use Printer File Format #3.
If the problem persists, you can try the following steps:
- Choose Printer File Format #1 - If Adobe Acrobat Reader (or the paid program Adobe Acrobat Pro) is not installed on the PC, it will need to be installed. Get Adobe Reader here. Important: By default, the download will include a third-party software offering that you may not want or need. Look for the heading "Included with your download" and evaluate whether you also want the optional add-on software.
- If Adobe has been installed you will be prompted to select Adobe from the options being displayed.
- Select the most current version installed
- Select Reader again
- Select AcroRd32.exe
- Try printing again
If re-selecting the printer does not correct the problem, there may be a document stuck in the print queue. Try the following:
- Turn off the printer and the computer.
- Wait approximately 30 seconds.
- Re-start the computer and turn the printer back on.
- If your printer is still not printing after completing the above steps, try printing from another program, (i.e. Microsoft Word or Notepad).
- If you still cannot print, consult the printer manufacturer's website support information or consult with a local computer technician.
- In the event you can print from other programs and TaxSlayer Pro appears to be the problem, please contact TaxSlayer Pro technical support.
