In TaxSlayer Pro, this error may be encountered after clicking the Transmit button and indicates that the EFIN assigned to one or more returns doesn't match the Transmitter's EFIN specified in the program configuration.
If you look at the EFIN column in the Transmission table you can spot the return(s) with the wrong EFIN.
Fixing this error message only requires visiting step 5 in the list below.
The error message relates only to a mismatch between the EFIN specified in the return and the Transmitter's EFIN. However, since this error message is typically subsequent to a change of EFIN, it's not a bad idea to verify the EFIN is up-to-date in all the places that matter.
- From the Quick Menu of TaxSlayer Pro select:
- Configuration
- Electronic Filing / Bank Setup
- Transmitter’s EFIN - Verify the Transmitter's EFIN is correct. If it's wrong, enter the correct EFIN.
- Exit this Menu back to the Configuration Main Menu and select:
- Firm/ERO/Preparer Setup
- Firm Information - Verify the Firm EFIN is correct.
After exiting this menu you will be asked "Do you want to replace all preparer information with the firm Information that was just entered?". If all of your preparers have the same firm information (which is typical), answer Yes and skip to step 4 below. If a preparer for some reason has or needs to have different firm information associated with them, including their EFIN, answer No and proceed to step 3.
- If you answered Yes to the question in the previous step, skip this step.
Otherwise, if you answered No, again in the Configuration Main Menu select:- Firm/ERO/Preparer Setup
- Preparer(s) Menu
- Select a preparer
- Change Firm Information
- Answer No to the question "Do You Want to Change All the Firm Information?". Verify the EFIN is correct. (If you answered Yes in step 2, it will be.)
- Exit this Menu back to the Company Setup Menu and select:
- ERO(s) Menu - Verify the EFIN is correct. If it's wrong, edit the record to fix it.
- ERO(s) Menu - Verify the EFIN is correct. If it's wrong, edit the record to fix it.
- Open the tax return that is triggering the error and select:
- Mark Return Electronic
- Other E-File Information
- EFIN - Click this line and the EFIN will update to the current Transmitter's EFIN.
If you have updated your EFIN in all of these menus and a problem persists, please contact TaxSlayer Pro Support at 706.868.0985.
