If a taxpayer owes additional taxes to Illinois during the year, they may be required to make estimated tax payments for the following tax year. In some cases, this may result in a refund, which they may choose to apply toward the following year's estimated tax payments.
To apply an Illinois refund to the next year's estimated tax payments, from the main menu of the Illinois return select:
- Refund
- Amount of Refund to Applied to Next Year
