If a taxpayer owes additional taxes to Alabama during the year, they may be required to make estimated tax payments for the following tax year to the state. In some cases, this may result in a refund, which they may choose to apply toward the following year's estimated tax payments.
To apply the Alabama refund to the next years estimated tax payments, from the main menu of the Alabama return select:
- Refund
- Apply Refund to Estimated Tax Payments - Enter the amount to apply to 20XX
