Form 1040-NR will reject with code SNEC-F1040NR-085 if the amount of Social Security benefits on Schedule NEC is not equal to 85% of the sum of all net benefits from Forms SSA-1042-S plus RRB-1042-S:
The sum of Schedule NEC (Form 1040-NR), 'SocSecBnftAmt' in ('IncomeTaxRt10UndTrtyRuleGrp', 'IncomeTaxRt15UndTrtyRuleGrp', 'IncomeTaxRt30UndTrtyRuleGrp', 'IncomeTaxRtOthUndTrtyRuleGrp', and 'IncomeTaxRtOth2UndTrtyRuleGrp') must be equal to the [sum of all Forms RRB 1042-S, 'NetBenefitPaidAmount' plus (+) all Forms SSA 1042-S, 'NetSocSecBnftAmt'] multiplied by 85% (.85).
To correct this reject in the nonresident income tax return in TaxSlayer Pro, from the main menu of the return (Form 1040-NR) select:
- Other Taxes
- Tax on Income Non-Effectively Connected Income (Sch NEC)
- SSA Benefits - Ensure the taxed amount of benefits equals 85% of the net benefits from Forms SSA-1042-S and RRB-1042-S.
