When completing Part III of Form 990 in TaxSlayer Pro, each of the three program service expense menus includes a menu item labeled simply "Code". The IRS instruction for this line is also simple: "leave this blank". (This instruction could change, of course.)
If you enter a number in this field, the return will fail to validate with an error message such as this:
The 'http://www.irs.gov/efile:BusinessCd' element is invalid - The value 'xxxxx' is invalid according to its datatype 'String' - The Pattern constraint failed.
So, leave the Code field blank.
