Correcting Reject Code S1A-F1040-026
First, verify the taxpayer and/or spouse SSN and year of birth in the return with the taxpayer's documentation. If the data entered on the return is incorrect, make the correction and retransmit the return.
Secondly, if you have verified the information and the return is still being rejected, advise the taxpayer to contact the SSA to verify the SSN and year of birth on file. They can call the SSA at 800.772.1213 or check here for a local SSA office that can assist.
Note that if a correction is required in the SSA and/or IRS records it may take the SSA up to 10 days to notify the IRS after they have updated their files. Afterward, an electronic return can be resubmitted, but there is no way to determine the time frame in which all this will occur.
If you're certain the information in the return is correct you can paper file the return, and you will want to include documentation verifying the taxpayer and spouse information in the return is correct.
