If a taxpayer contributes to an Indiana College Choice 529 Education Savings Plan, a portion of the contribution can be taken as a credit on the Indiana return.
Contributions eligible for the credit are limited to 20% on up to $5,000 per year, for those filing a single return; and 20% on up to $1,500 per year, for those filling a joint return. MFS filers can claim a maximum credit up to $750 of each spouse’s own contribution or 20% of each spouse’s own contribution, whichever
is less.
To enter the deductible portion of the contributions that were made in TaxSlayer ProWeb, from the main menu of the Indiana return, select:
- Credits
- Schedule IN-529: Education Savings Plan
- Add Credit - Enter the deductible amount of the contribution that the taxpayer made to the plan.
