TaxSlayer ProWeb includes Consent to Use and Consent to Disclose forms that are intended to comply with the regulations specified in IRC section 7216. These form are available for printing outside of the tax return in the ProWeb office menu on the left side. These forms are required when a taxpayer is using a bank product to facilitate receiving their refund. If you're not offering bank products to your clients, you won't see these forms available since they are unnecessary.
In addition to these pre-written forms, ProWeb gives you the ability to add an additional consent form if you are offering other products to your clients that require their consent, or if you wish to create and use your own forms for section 7216 purposes.
Note: Custom consent forms are intended for face-to-face interactions. The custom consent form isn't signed when you send the return for signature using either the Taxes To Go app or the Customer Portal.
To create a taxpayer consent form, from the Welcome page in TaxSlayer ProWeb select:
- Configuration
- Consent Forms - Click + ADD CONSENT FORM
- In the spaces provided, give the form a name and provide a description.
- Consent Tax Year - If the form doesn't apply to all years, indicate the year it applies to.
- Required for Efile - Check this box to indicate that the return cannot be e-filed without the taxpayer(s) indicating that they either accept or decline consent.
A consent form must include at least one term. The terms print in the body of the consent form, each in its own paragraph, specifying such things as actions included or excluded, expectations, and other conditions.
To configure a consent form term, select the blue plus sign on the menu line labeled Consent Form Terms.
- Term - Enter a description or title of the term.
- Input Only - Check this box to require the preparer to enter the term's definition in the Consent Form step in the e-file process. Otherwise, leave it unchecked and define the term in the Definition field.
- Definition - Define the term. Entering something here assumes the "Input Only" check box is not checked.
- When you are finished, click the check mark on the right side.
- Click Save to save your work.
