Form 1040-V, Payment Voucher is a form your client may send with a check or money order when paying the balance due showing on the "Amount you owe" line of Form 1040, 1040-SR, or 1040-NR.
Form 1040-V is not used with Form 1040-X.
Using Form 1040-V allows for more accurate and efficient payment processing. TaxSlayer Pro prints the form with the balance due pre-filled, but the taxpayer can change the amount if they wish to pay more or less. Keep in mind that to avoid interest and penalty, the full balance due must be paid by the return due date.
You can also configure the program to always print Form 1040-V balance due returns. Note that if this setting has been configured, the form will print with any balance due return, even if the taxpayer may not be paying by check.
