Anyone who did not have minimum essential health insurance coverage for themselves or their families during the tax year may claim a coverage exemption if they qualify, or may have to pay a penalty, also known as a shared responsibility payment, on their tax return. The payment is calculated on the Shared Responsibility Payment Worksheet located in the instructions for Form 8965.
Under the Affordable Care Act, minimum essential coverage is a health care plan or other arrangement specifically identified as minimum essential coverage.
Taxpayers who did maintain minimum essential health insurance coverage and enrolled through the Marketplace or Exchange may be eligible for a Premium Tax Credit. The premium tax credit is a federal tax credit designed to help eligible taxpayers pay for health insurance purchased through the Marketplace. When enrolling in health coverage through the Marketplace, eligible taxpayers choose to have some or all of the benefit of the credit on their federal tax return.
Scan Documents - If you are a TaxSlayer Pro Premium customer, the PaperCut Integrated Document Scanning Option allows TaxSlayer Pro to directly scan documents from your TWAIN or WIA compliant SingleSheet / Flat Bed or Automatic Document Feeder equipped scanner. The scanner must support specific TWAIN or WIA functions to be compatible with TaxSlayer Pro.
