Forum Highlights
Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting - A new law affecting many small businesses – including many tax practices – went into effect in 2024 requiring companies to report ownership information to the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This bonus session, featuring representatives from FinCEN and the IRS, will explain what you need to do to comply with the new reporting requirements. Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
Exhibits - Visit dozens of exhibitors displaying a wide selection of products and services that may help enhance your business operations. Exhibit hall hours: 11:00 am to 6:00 PM on Tuesday and 10:00 am to 2:30 PM on Wednesday.
Continuing Education (CE) Credits - Attendance at IRS Nationwide Tax Forum seminars qualifies for continuing education (CE) credits for enrolled agents, certified public accountants, Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) participants, and California Tax Education Council (CTEC) participants. You will need to understand and comply with your licensing agency's CE requirements. Attendance for the full 50 minutes of the presentation is required to receive one CE credit.
Case Resolution Program - You can once again bring your toughest unresolved IRS case (one case per tax business) to the Case Resolution Program. IRS representatives with specialized expertise will be available by appointment only to meet with you one-on-one. If they can't resolve the case onsite or it needs more research, it will be assigned to the appropriate IRS unit for follow-up.
A signed original or copy of your Power of Attorney (Form 2848), authorizing disclosure of confidential tax information, is required and must be presented when scheduling an appointment. Only the practitioner(s) listed on the POA will be allowed in the Case Resolution Room. For an appointment, visit the Case Resolution table on Monday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM before the Forum begins, or go directly to the Case Resolution Room during the three-day event. To expedite scheduling, bring your Form 2848 and a completed Nationwide Tax Forum Case Data Sheet with you.
The Case Resolution Program can help you resolve one client's toughest tax case. The program is for client cases only. The IRS cannot assist you with any personal tax case or any case in which you have a vested interest. If you have an issue with a case of this nature, please contact the IRS or the Taxpayer Advocate Service directly.
